Family: Struthionidae

Description

This family contains only one genus with two species, the Ostriches of Africa.

Taxonomy

Struthionidae is a monotypic family in the order Struthioniformes.
It is related to all other extant families of large, flightless birds (Rheas, Cassowaries, Emu and Kiwis) and to the extinct Moas and Elephant Birds.
