Identification

31cm

  • Dark brown
  • Yellow forecrown, chin and thighs
  • Yellow under-wing converts, innerwebs of primary feathers and bend of wing
  • Purple rump
  • Black bill
  • Orange/red iris

Distribution

Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.

Taxonomy

There are 2 subspecies:

  • C. d. duivenbodei:
  • Coastal northern New Guinea (Geelvink Bay to Aitape region)
  • C. d. syringanuchalis:
  • Coastal lowlands of New Guinea (Aitape to Astrolabe Bay)

Forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet inclues fruit, seeds, buds, nectar, and grain.

Breeding

The eggs are incubated for 24-25 days.
