Identification

  • Slate-grey head and upperparts
  • White throat
  • Broad rufous breast band, extending down the flanks
  • White underparts
  • Long tail, buff undertail

Distribution

South America: found in south-eastern Brazil (Minas Gerais to northern Rio Grande do Sul)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

This species has in the past been placed in genus Poospiza

Habitat

Scrubby edges of high elevation Atlantic Forest

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of small invertebrates gleaned from leaves and fruits.
