The ebird update - How do you like it?..

Yep, exactly, so strange and frustrating :( Anybody knows whether there is an option to address this to ebird management? Perhaps this is something they could listen to?

The ebird update - How do you like it?..

Hi All, just wanted to ask people to share their opinions on the recent ebird update. From my side - really good to see people trying new things, but some matters do appear a bit odd to me: 1. Monthly records are prioritized over all-time records (it seems to me you cannot even select all-time...

    Lesser Redpoll? - Bulgaria, 17 Nov 2023

Dear All, pls kindly share your opinions on this Redpoll - captured and ringed at Branta Birding Lodge Ringing Site by Pavel Simeonov on 17 November. If this is a Lesser Redpoll, this would be one of the first records in the country - so Pavel has asked me to double-check on this forum. Further...

    Ecuador, Mindo & Antisana - August 2023

Dear All, Let me share some brief notes from my recent birding trip to Ecuador. This was my first birding trip to that country, and, indeed, my first birding in South America altogether. This was not a hardcore birding trip, but rather a mixture of a family and birding vacation – I was...

Unknown bird in Vratsa Mountains, Bulgaria - 08 Oct 2023

Dear All, I would be grateful for your opinions on what this could be - pics attached (very low quality, unfortunately). Two birds, thrush-sized, in high grass on a mountain meadow (1,300m elevation), flying very low above the grass for short-to-medium distances before disappearing back into...

    Night calling bird

Long-eared owl would be my first guess - their juvenile begging calls would typically be very conspicuous, often heard in residential areas and often attract attention of people . It would be good to hear the actual sound to make a conclusion, however :)

    Pallid Swift? Tenerife, July 2022

Dear All, I have addressed this question to Eduardo Garcia del Rey, an expert ornithologist from Sociedad Ornitológica Canaria (I managed to obtain his contact details from Robert Burton, a birder permanently based on La Palma who runs a blog on La Palma birds). I will publish his opinion here...

2 Raptors on Tenerife, July 2022

Hi All, pls advise on these two raptors that i observed in the area of Erjos pools on Tenerife in mid-July 2022. I was actually there looking for the local Linnet subspecies and initially did not pay much attention to the two raptors circling above a mountaintop at a considerable distance from...

    Pallid Swift? Tenerife, July 2022

Thank you. Do I understand correctly that you would lean towards Plain Swift in this case?

    Pallid Swift? Tenerife, July 2022

Hi All, pls kindly advise - is that a Pallid Swift? Seen at Barranco de Ruiz on Tenerife, where normally only Plain and Pallid Swifts are present in summer - and this one certainly looked different from Plain Swifts (bigger, longer winged and the flight pattern 'more predictable", not erratic...
