And now for something completely different: The Habicht 7x42

Hi Hermann, First; I hope you will recover soon. And I totally support your statement regarding the Habicht 7x42. I sold mine since I had issues while using them with glasses, but until now I there are better than any pair of binoculars I used. Currently I have a pair of SLC 8x56 which are...

    Reporting parrot mistreatment in Netherlands!!!

A little bit late response, but you could call the animal police in the Netherlands via 114. https://www.politie.nl/en/contact

    Your pick btw 8x32, 8x42, 8.5x42?

My pick would be the SLC 8x56. Best binoculars I ever used (although still miss the 7x42 Habicht, with bigger glasses they are simply not the best choice). If I have to pick one the three mentioned, I would pick the SLC 8x42, then the EL 8x32 and last the EL8,5x42. I'm not very fond of the...

    Best Low Light Binocular?

The Zeiss Dialyt 8x56 look very cool, but handle very poor and a definitely no go for is that they aren't waterproof, also the eyecups are not so nice when you wear glasses. The minimum focus distance is also quite long, which make them less universal. And at last, they aren't so bright anymore...

    Best Low Light Binocular?

The Docter Nobilem are very nice low light binoculars. They might even be the brightest available. But they are indeed quite bulky. I have some big hands, but these are even to big for my hands and also to heavy to hold still for a while.

    Best Low Light Binocular?

I stood for the same decision as you are right now. I was looking for the ultimate binoculars for my dusk and nighttime badger observations. My lineup were the: Leica Ultravid 8x50 Zeiss Conquest 8x56 Zeiss Victory HT 8x54 Swarovski SLC 8x56 The Leica was simply to dark in the dim lit part...

Final consideration: Swarovski SLC 8X56 WB or Zeiss 8x56 FL

For the Netherlands I wouldn't consider Nikon Binoculars for a moment. In my country the service for Nikon is very poor.

Does the BG Bino Guard work with the winged eye cups? Other suggestions?

I'm using them in combination with standard eye cups and the love them. I don't see any problems for the winged eye cups and would suggest to go to your local Swarovski dealer and just try them on you binoculars.

    Death Of The Alpha?

Good point. Being an Alpha brand is more than offering the best optics. It is also about providing the best service before and after someone bought a product. Also I'm with the use of Alpha's I'm confident all the effort is been done to provide me a reliable product. In the Netherlands...

Black Habicht 8x30 w/ Green Rubber Eyecups

What a gorgeous design the Habicht's have. Really well made. I can't believe there are more beautiful bins in the market available.

    Binoculars for under £1,000

You might consider the Swarovski Habicht line-up. Some really affordable waterproof alpha bins well below € 1.000,00 I really loved my 7x42.

    night optics: 7x50 vs 8x56

Consider the Swarovski Habicht 7x42, they wil bring more light to your eyes then the Monarch 5's in 8x56 or the Vixen Foresta 7x50. But for night time optics the alpha are the ones you want. I'm very happy with my SLC 8x56, altough my Habicht 7x42 were more universal until I bought new glasses...
