    So the Carrion crow wins from the Pheasant, the wing shape seems to make the difference.     I must say that I din't think of a pheasant but considering all the possibilities I must agree with you both. It does explain why I was unable to find him back, a bird of prey would have taken off at some stage. It was those white feathers that really confused me. Thanks for the help, Louis
