    Thanks for responses. Definitely not a red winged black bird ( the red is on the underside of the wings ). Matt, I think you are right. Going back soon so I'll find someone to ask. Unfortunately the waitress couldn't help last time !!

    MC. Just to let you know that the RSPCA rang me - they had been out to the Reservoir but couldn't catch the duck, so they are hoping to go back out with a boat and catch him. Fingers crossed and thanks again.

    Thanks for the response - I've googled 'wildlife rescue' for the West Midlands but can't find anything :-( I left the duck on the water, he can swim but poor guy, he still has wire all round his left wing and a horrid orange fishing float stuck to him ( it would be funny if it weren't so...

    Fab day down at the River today - saw a pair of Kingfishers, bullfinch, wren, heron, ducks, lots of tits and finches and songbirds. So lovely to see 2 Kingfishers!
