Phil. Genius. It's not that one but I clicked on the link for Red Winged Starling - and that's what they are ! And, as Matt says - they are from South Africa - Akamba have an aviary for birds they have imported ( our waitress said ' they are as big as ostriches'' !! ), it's not open to the...

MC. Just to let you know that the RSPCA rang me - they had been out to the Reservoir but couldn't catch the duck, so they are hoping to go back out with a boat and catch him. Fingers crossed and thanks again.

Injured Bird. Lifford Reservoir. Birmingham. UK

Thanks again for caring. I rang the RSPCA as soon as I got home. I really hope they will help out the poor Mallard. I know he's only a duck but he doesn't deserve this.

Thanks for the response - I've googled 'wildlife rescue' for the West Midlands but can't find anything :-( I left the duck on the water, he can swim but poor guy, he still has wire all round his left wing and a horrid orange fishing float stuck to him ( it would be funny if it weren't so...

Don't know if anyone can help but today at Lifford Reservoir, Lifford Lane, Birmingham B30, UK there was a Mallard Drake who was completely tangled in fishing wire and stuck against a log in the water. I managed to borrow scissors from a fisherman and waded out and managed to cut him free from...

    Rutland - advice needed urgently!

Many thanks. I am going to Rutland tomorrow. This may be a silly question so I apologise in advance. Is there parking at the Anglian Centre or Lyndon Centre ? The map I have printed off only shows parking at the North of the water. Do I have to park there and walk to Anglian ? The reason...

Hi, I'm new to BirdForum and a fairly amateur watcher - mainly just enjoy feeding the ones that visit my back garden - and managed to help a female wood pigeon recover after a nasty bump recently. I'm off to Rutland Water UK next weekend and wanted to know what I can expect to see at this time...
