Fairly uncommon I think if it is one, I've had one record in Notts in twenty years.

Should have prominent, tufts which stand proud of the wings?

Definitely A. cristana there is an almost identical one on Norfolk Moths website l.

Definitely. Quite variable as many of this genus is, but this is quite a distinctive form I think.
