Female Mallard and Hooded Merganser (Anas platyrhynchos and Lophodytes cucullatus)

This Hooded Merganser was hanging out with a number of Mallards at one of our local lakes.
Habitat
Mallards can be found throughout the U.S. Their preferred hapitats include ponds, lakes, marshes, small rivers, bays, and ditches. Hooded Mergansers can be found throughout most of the U.S. depending on time of year. Their preferred habitats include small forest pools, millponds, swamps and beaver ponds.
