Band-winged Dragonlet (Erythrodiplax umbrata)

Blending with the ground, the male has the large dark wing spots lacking in most females (heteromorphs). but some females mimic males (andromorphs). This one is a true male based on the blue color of its abdomen. A medium-sized dragonlet in the skimmer family (Libellulidae). It is widespread in the neotropics ranging from the southern US to northern Argentina although vagrants have been seen as far north as Wisconsin.
