Nikon Fieldscope EDIIIA vs Opticron HR 66 ED(newer model) (1 Viewer)

anyone got any opinions of the above scopes?,which would be the better one?

HR66 GA ED was able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Swaro 65 HD. I never saw the point of upgrading. If you have a chance for the Opticron, grab it. You will not regret it.

Hi,

really depends on the luck of the draw... sample variation is a thing even with alpha scopes...

The advantage of the the Opticron will be the availability of the SDLv3 zoom which, while not really a wide angle zoom with 2x or 2.5x zoom range, is still quite wide and nice, especially if compared to the super narrow and no eye relief Nikon zoom...

Also the Opticron is a bit less old so it might have newer coatings...

If you like fixed wide angle EPs, I would try the Nikon as they have great options there (although they are getting rare, so ideally get one or two you like along with the body).

Joachim, who would not buy used optics without trying them in person before or with a no questions asked return policy from a reputable shop...
