i wanted to use Nikon P310 camera with my opticron scopes,i had purchased a Nikon FSB-8 camera adapter but had to find a way to connect it to Opticron scope,i then purchased an Opticron DCC camera adapter and after a bit of cutting with hacksaw i'm happy with the result

Love it....love the creativity. It sounds like you combined two adapters, one the nikon and the other is Opticron. Just curious, why wouldn't the Opticron adapter just fit the opticron scope? ..... Does your camera stay permanently to your adapter or does it come off when you turn off the camera?

I know I used to make my digiscoping adapters from PFC pipe and gluing a few of them together so end inserted into the scope eyepiece while the other end took the camera. It worked. Now, yours looks much better and I like you're thinking. How does it handle in the field?

The Nikon P310 is what I feel to be the perfect point and shoot for digiscoping. It takes solid video, the navigation is easy...great images from from it. Fairly quick with shutter etc. I have looked at upgrading my camera but when I look, I end up thinking that not much has changed in terms of tech, so why change from the p310? I am not sure what I would change anyhow.

The main thing is that the back screen is very bright. I have had earlier cameras where the back screen was half the resolution of the p310 and in the sun, I couldn't see what I was looking for. So this camera is great. Enjoy it....

If you want, check out my blog below on Digiscoping as I try to upload when I can....I have been digiscoping since the mid-90's believe it or not and am still learning.

Let me know what you figure out about the p310 or tricks to take better photos etc.... the beauty of digiscoping is that it forces us to slow down and think, observe etc.... it takes skill.... Take care, ....jim

the camera can be removed from adapter as it's fitted to the nikon fsb-8 adapter,it's the adapter for the p300 and p310,i mated the nikon adapter to the opticron adapter, the opticron adapter is very similar to the novagrade adapter in the way it works, both adapters are in the pics below

So the camera just pops off or slides back on giving you the ability to look thru the scope with your eyes, and then connect camera, right? If so...sounds good... I am not at all familiar with Nikon products other that that small point and shoot!,... I know from past experience that opticron did have some adapter kit but never have seen one in action.... thanks, jim

you would need to remove the adapter but that would be done by loosening the opticron part of adapter and then slide off/slide on
