During the late ‘60’s at weekend during the Summer months, I’d drive down to the New Forest or the South West Surrey heathlands in pursuit of the near mythical Hobby!
It was certainly an all day affair, coming from NEast London and returning back through London central (no M25 in those days) albeit traffic volume was somewhat lighter.
That said, I only ever got frustrating distant cursory views certainly not justified by the expense and effort employed on the day.
Fast forward to 2023, I took this image of a breeding pair a stones throw from my abode at the time.😮
