5. is a juvenile ring-billed gull.
6. where did you take the pic, tony? such a frontside pic isn't enough. but if this wasn't on westcoast canada you can assume it is an american herring gull.
 
I can't remember from 10 years ago Lou ! However the grass it's sitting on looks exactly the same as this belted kingfisher https://www.flickr.com/photos/54189378@N02/6453835745/in/album-72157628277165533/ which I remember was through the window of a restaurant on Vancouver Island !

if it was on vancouver island it most probably is an 'olympic gull' (hybrid western x galucous-winged), also its appearance with the very bulbous bill and the smooth, cloudy markings on breast and head, is favouring it. that's why i was asking.
