Bittern, Salreu - Portugal, today (1 Viewer)

From the Collins fieldguide: "juvenile: like adult, but crown and shorter moustachial stripe browner (not black)".
From van Duivendijk 2011: "1w: like ad but cap and submoustachial-stripe sometimes brownish (brown in juv)"

Shorter bill, dull eye colour also point to a juv, and the striations on the neck are consistent with European Bittern only. A juvenile for me.
There have been a few previous cases of Bittern breeding in Portugal, could this be a new one?

Thank you all for your answers. We also had narrowed it down to a possible juvenile european... but the bird seems odd and couldn't find simillar pictures on the internet.
About breeding, the possibility had been raised but it will be difficult to confirm, unless we can find some more juveniles, for instance. It is in a suitable habitat and some bitterns had been found nearby (< 2km) in different years.
I have a sighting of a heron (4th of september last year) that at the time I was almost certain that it was a bittern, but it was too quick and I had a lot of foliage between us that couldn't confirm (ended up as heron sp.). And after checking the arriving dates (first bitterns start arriving Portugal late October) I was less certain it could be a bittern, but... who knows if they don't breed here?
