Birding around Lake Junin, Peru (1 Viewer)

We wanted to see the Junin Grebe and any other specialities around the area so found details for a local guide, Cesar Donato Zevallos Bashualdo, who not only agreed to guide us but also offered us accommodation in his own home. He also arranged for us to be picked up at Lima airport by a driver and transported to Junin. Cesar proved to be an exceptionally talented guide knowing the local birds' habits very well and so providing us with excellent views and also wonderful photo opportunities. We were able to see the Junin grebe by boat, Black-breasted Hillstar, Junin rail, Stripe-headed Antpitta, Ornate Tapaculo, Puna Canastero plus many other birds of the high Andes.
We would recommend Cesar as a guide for anybody wanting to go to this area. He can be contacted via Facebook, where there are many photos of birds seen on his guided trips
