On the meadows near the water a Honey-buzzard (Pernis apivorus) hunts bumblebees and other insects, the movements of this falcon are funny and fascinating.
Hello everyone! I wanted to share an incredible opportunity with all of you who are currently working with or have experience working with vultures. The European Vulture Conference 2023 is extending an invitation to conservationists and researchers to submit abstracts for the chance to showcase...
It was thought not to be in the area of Jaco Beach. Its southern range reached Golfito area but we have seen this species of vulture since 2012. Despite our efforts to get people to believe it has been a failure until this day. www.naturegroupcr.com
Mostly nocturnal, lives in pairs for a long time on the same perch. Feeds on everything that moves including snakes, opossums and large insects. www.naturegroupcr.com
While taking some birders from Atlanta up to the cloud forest near San Jose Costa Rica. This angel-like raptor perched for us for no less than 20 minutes. White Hawk is an icon of humid rainforests a must to see while in Costa Rica.
I found a folder more with a few more unidentified photos from a trip too the Gambia in February 2019. Any opinions on some of them will be a huge help, thanks. I'm trying to give me feeling about the photos under here:
Photo 1: Indigobird? I guess it has to be village, but leg colour seems odd...
I'm going to have to do a lot more road cruising to find birds now, as I'm temporarily closed due to hawks. After finding the remains of three mourning doves in the yard inside of a week, no, the feeders have to come down for a bit. As I was outside taking them down, he chose to pick on the...

Collared Forest Falcon. I was lucky to see not one, but two of these large, strange, falcons at the northern tip of their range. They can be found from Brazil to northeast Mexico. They nest in hollow trees like an owl and sound like a monkey
I had a unique opportunity to shoot in a pristine salt-marsh here in Connecticut - a one-day deal, good luck. But it worked out well, as I saw dozens of hawks (and others, which I'll be posting). This guy landed literally over my head, which gave me a great angle, but I was getting showered with...

A massive forest raptor, the Bonelli's takes both birds and mammals as prey. I saw a pair repairing what appeared to be an old nest hgh up on a cliff ledge.
If you'd have told me crows and ospreys can be friends before I stepped outside today, I never would have believed you. But these two chased each other and played in the air for 20 minutes and then went off in opposite directions - two days in a row!
My only sighting of this rare endemic perched near the road since I started into birding. Most of the time, it could be seen soaring high up on the blue skies with distinctive sound which makes it differ than its cousin, the Crested Serpent Eagle
Himalayan Vulture Gyps himalayensis (हिमाली गिद्ध) in Nepal, clicked recently in Koshi Tapu Wildlife Reserve of eastern lowland of Nepal. This vulture is listed as near threatened bird and found from lowland to Himalayan regions of the country.
Many people believe owls are strictly nocturnal. But this beautiful Barred Owl was actively hunting yesterday morning at 9:00 AM and was kind enough to allow me a few good shots before it decided to fly off.
And here's a funny tip that isn't very well-known: If you are watching or photographing...
After getting a few still shots of this American Bald Eagle and waiting over an hour for it to leave its perch, I gave up and moved on to another area of interest. After I got about a quarter mile away I turned to see if it was still there and just then it took off and flew directly toward me...
