  1. Dawn Panorama

    Dawn Panorama

Very early view from the veranda in front of our room at the hotel
  2. Mangrove Cuckoo

    Mangrove Cuckoo

I went back and forth on this, but decided this bird deserved one more upload.
  3. A thorny one

    A thorny one

I do not have a species name for this succulent.
  4. Mangrove Cuckoo

    Mangrove Cuckoo

Another photo of this kind bird, getting close like never before
  5. Tropical Mockingbird

    Tropical Mockingbird

Same bird as in the video from yesterday, but less hidden by branches in this photo.
  6. Wasp's Nest

    Wasp's Nest

We saw several of these during our week in Grenada. Which species is involved I do not know.
  7. Dark Bananaquit

    Dark Bananaquit

This is the second place I see the dark version of Bananaquit. The first was in St. Vincent where I remember them as blacker. There is a photo here in BF of a bird from Venezuela, which seems a little paler brown. The dark version was considerably more common in Grenada than the regular...
  8. Tropical Mockingbird calling

    Tropical Mockingbird calling

    They seemed a bit shy.
  9. Green-throated Carib

    Green-throated Carib

Low light on a cloudy day under the trees. Subspecies chlorolaemus
  10. Mangrove Cuckoo

    Mangrove Cuckoo

Another bird from the thorny dry forest area of Mt. Hartman. I missed the tip of the tail in this image.
  11. Spotted Sandpiper

    Spotted Sandpiper

    In a mangrove environment
  12. Green Heron

    Green Heron

I like this image of the heron sitting between a couple of rocks by a small pond.
  13. Atlantic Mangrove Fiddler Crab

    Atlantic Mangrove Fiddler Crab

Identification is based on a website which listed 6 species of Fiddler Crabs for Grenada, and this species was the best match according to the photos there.
  14. Yellow-bellied Elaenia

    Yellow-bellied Elaenia

For this image, I was going back and forth between this species and the Caribbean counterpart. I ended on Yellow-bellied because the field guide writes that "in the area of overlap with CaEl, the Yellow-bellied has the larger crest". Belly color seems very variable in both based both on my own...
  15. Grenada Wren

    Grenada Wren

Currently a subspecies of House wren, rumored to be split soon.
  16. Brown Pelican

    Brown Pelican

  17. Boobies in Grenada

    Boobies in Grenada

On location, I estimated at least 10 times more Red-footed than Brown Booby, and with a few Magnificent Frigatebird mixed in. The red-footed were mostly dark with white tail and a few were mostly white. I could not find any Masked Boobies, they would have differed in being white birds with black...
  18. Spectacled Thrush

    Spectacled Thrush

Yesterday a video, today a photo of this thrush. There had been a major shower a little while earlier.
  19. Grenada Tanager take off

    Grenada Tanager take off

Far from a great photo, but only the second image in the gallery of this species and as close as I got to a flight image.
  20. Tropical Mockingbird

    Tropical Mockingbird

This bird was everywhere in Grenada, from dry lowland forest in the south to higher elevation wet forest in the center to a variety of hotel gardens.
  21. Spectacled Thrush

    Spectacled Thrush

A short video of a bird that ends because it flew away.
  22. Grenada Tanager

    Grenada Tanager

The bird was truly holding its head downwards most of the time I saw it, including in this photo. Current taxonomy has this one as Lesser Antillean Tanager, but it is split by the newest field guide.
  23. Antillean Crested Hummingbird

    Antillean Crested Hummingbird

In the middle of a rain shower (and therefore a lot less light), this bird was feeding from the flowers of whatever palm this was.
  24. Black-faced Grassquit

    Black-faced Grassquit

The spotted area behind the bird is the side window on our rental vehicle. Yes, we had made it a bit dirty :-)
  25. Yellow-bellied Elaenia
