... discourteous not to take this youngster's picture, he settled on a railing right in front of me. In the background, you can see a bit of the old city bridge, which is now pedestrianised and very attractively done too, with some seats and flower boxes dotted along its length.

    Learning to fly?

.... LOL it was more me learning how to take flight shots!! However, I think this is a first winter Common Gull, so probably he does still have some lessons to learn. Strange pose

It's funny how an odd pose can throw you, isn't it. This guy had me pondering for a long time as to what it was. Decided in the end it was a Common Gull. My morning picture... well done to those who spotted the two birds, one each side of the big rock, not far from the right and left hand...

    Common Gull

As many of you know, I'm not much good at gulls (particularly if they not in adult breeding plumage LOL) but think this must be a Common Gull due to the dark eyes. Fairly distant, so a full zoom and a big crop! Thought the water was a nice shade of blue.

    Flight practise

.... Mine, not their's LOL Three Common Gulls came flying upstream and I took a series of shots of them, this was the best though, with just the two left. Whites are a bit blown I think in the strong sunshine.
