Identification

25-30 cm. Male - white forehead and greyish supercilium, black-spotted chestnut crown and nape, buff-yellow throat and black above narrow white above chestnut bands across lower throat/upper breast. Female smaller with chestnut and white undertail-coverts.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Dense broadleaf, mixed broadleaf and coniferous forest, bamboo and scrub at 500 m to 1,700 m in the higher mountains.
