Distribution
Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.
Taxonomy
Five subspecies are recognized[1]:
- P. m. pacifica
- P. m. chapmani
- P. m. melanura
- P. m. souancei
- P. m. berlepschi
Of these, the first one has been proposed split as a full species Chocó Parakeet Pyrrhura pacifica[2].
