Identification

Distribution

Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.

Taxonomy

Five subspecies are recognized[1]:

  • P. m. pacifica
  • P. m. chapmani
  • P. m. melanura
  • P. m. souancei
  • P. m. berlepschi

Of these, the first one has been proposed split as a full species Chocó Parakeet Pyrrhura pacifica[2].
