Identification

Exact bill shape is important in identification of this species1.

23 to 28 cm in length. 125 g in weight. 56 to 60 cm in wingspan.

Distribution

The Fairy prion is found throughout the oceans and coastal areas of the Southern hemisphere.

Breeds on scattered subtropical and sub-antarctic islands

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Open ocean and coastal areas. They prefer to breed on small islands.

Behaviour

Diet

Feeds from the surface of the sea.

Breeding

Nest is placed in a burrow or preexisting hole.
