Forpus modestus

Forpus sclateri

Mitu, south western Colombia, December 2011

Identification

Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil

Taxonomy

There are 2 subspecies

  • F. m. modestus:
  • F. m. sclateri:
  • South-eastern Colombia to northern Bolivia and Amazonian Brazil

Forpus modestus seems to be the correct scientific name, and not Forpus sclateri; additionally, F. m. eidos needed to be renamed to the older name F. m. modestus.

Swamps and lowland damp forests and open areas.
