Identification

Male

  • Mostly green plumage
  • Yellow-green breast
  • Orange bill and legs
  • Pale blue forecrown
  • Yellow band across underside of secondaries

Female

  • Reduced blue crown
  • Stronger band on secondaries

Distribution

Indonesia: found on Buru (southern Moluccas).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Primary forests, 850-1,000m.

Status

Critically endangered due to habitat loss.

Diet

The diet includes nectar and pollen.
