Difference in View Size: 8.5x42 and 8x30

I think it is very possible that it is the sum of all the parts. The difference in magnification is one thing, and I did notice that in the view, but it did seem that the view itself was smaller. It is hard to describe, as it is my perception that we are talking about, but the best way I can...

Difference in View Size: 8.5x42 and 8x30

Right on, glad to know I'm not imagining things. Interesting to think that it might be because of the greater stereopsis of the porros. Thank you all for all the information. I'm going to read up on these threads.

Difference in View Size: 8.5x42 and 8x30

Yeah, the FOV sentence Didn't get fully written I guess. I was just thinking that the FOV is similar on both, as you say. I guess it's a matter of the magnification difference, and the apparent FOV as you have mentioned.

Difference in View Size: 8.5x42 and 8x30

Strange question, but here we go. I regularly use a set of 8.5x42s and have recently tried a set of the 8x30 Habichts and noticed a strange thing about the views in them. Other than the slight difference in the magnification I noticed that things looked smaller through the 8x30s compared to...

Eye pain from viewing through binoculars?

I agree that it is pricy, Swarovski and all, but it does do what they say it does in my opinion, and I do really like things that works as they should. I tried the 10x before I settled on the 8x, but they didn't quite agree with me. Not quite as 3 dimensional a view and a little harder to...

Eye pain from viewing through binoculars?

I also agree that the view with the head rest is more relaxing. Not just because it is steadier, and therefore more mellow, but the whole contact with your face is spread out and so the pressure in any one place is lessened. I've really enjoyed using it. Even though I have the 8x I have found...

Eye pain from viewing through binoculars?

For sure. What makes it sound like a diopter thing to me is that it is one of your eyes and not the other. That makes it feel like it is an alignment either of the focus or the collimation. I'm no expert though.

Eye pain from viewing through binoculars?

I would also think a slight misalignment in collimation as well. I will say that the first week or so with my NL's I had some eyestrain, not pain but just a little discomfort. I thought the diopter was good as things looked great through the binos, but one day I started in on the diopter again...

You might check with the seller as it said that it was sold and the moderators renamed it as such, but them all of those sold posts on the thread disappeared and that weird quoted post saying it is back up for sale appeared. Anyway, might also be sold, but might be worth a message to the guy...

    NL Pure eyepiece covers

Fantastic. Again, incredibly strange, but a solved problem is the outcome you want so right on. And now you have a bunch of spare parts too.

    NL Pure eyepiece covers

Yeah, I am a woodworker so I just took one of my carving knives and removed a little bit off each of the tabs. This made them better but not enough so I removed them completely and they fit perfectly. I will say that I don't put them all the way down when I'm out in the field, just enough to...
