Will Retrovid 8x40 leather case fit an ultravid HD 7x42?

Hi John, and thanks for the good news. Now I have to figure out where to get an 8x40 or 10x40 case/pouch. I will start by phoning round Leica stores and visiting Ebay.

New 10x42s wanted. But which ones?

if you want to expand your horizons some, try the 10x32 Zeiss SFs. The are optically better than any other modern Zeiss bins that I have used and are LIGHT (about 21 ounces). A good review from Roger Vine can be obtained from searching Bird Forum.

Will Retrovid 8x40 leather case fit an ultravid HD 7x42?

Chuck, maybe I spoke too soon about the leather pouch not being big enough for the UV 7x42! When I used such an arrangement in the past (with 8x32 bns) the leather pouch functioned as a glorified rain guard. That is, I fed the strap through the slit on the backside of the pouch and carried them...

Will Retrovid 8x40 leather case fit an ultravid HD 7x42?

Hi Chuck, and many thanks for checking out the binocular/pouch fit. Looking at your photos I think that you are probably right about the 7x42 UV with its Leica neckstrap being too large. Oh well, back to the drawing board! My reasoning on this is that I really liked the trinovid 8x32 with the...

Will Retrovid 8x40 leather case fit an ultravid HD 7x42?

Has anyone tried to fit the UV 7x42s into the leather carrying case (pouch?) of the Retrovid 8x40s?

    Eyepiece comparability

For many years I have used the 88 Prominar with the 20-60 TE-10Z eyepiece. I am thinking of upgrading to the new 99mm kowa scope. Does anyone know whether my current eyepiece will fit a the new body?

Ultravid HD plus 7x42 eyecup detents

Same here! I own Swaro NL 8x32, and Zeiss SF 8x42. Both great bins, but I find that the 7x42s have the edge in combining perfect optics with easy grace of use.

Ultravid HD plus 7x42 eyecup detents

When Roger Vine wrote his review of these bins he found that they had only two screw-up eyecup positions. Things seem to have changed. I took delivery of a pair of 7x42s yesterday and have been spending today birding with them. Really classy bins and I love 'em! They have at least 5, maybe 6...

    Glare Monsters!

Out combing the local grasslands today for migrant sparrows and using my Pure 8x32s I found that I can elicit and get rid of glare: if the eyecups are set at the shallower two of the positions I get the kind or arc of "glare" described in the photos in the last couple of postings. If, however...

A Zeiss Conquest HD on steroids.

As with Henry, I certainly do not want to get enmeshed in this back and forth with Dennis and his detractors. Quite frankly I find it churlish and approaching venomous. Here is all that I know: a few days ago I took my 3 pairs of bins out into the field at sunrise and compared them by looking...
