New Species - Western Whistler

New Species - Western Whistler (Pachycephala occidentalis)

The Western Whistler is a new species, recently split from the Golden Whistler. When I took this photo last May it was a Golden Whistler, but now it is Western Whistler. An Armchair tick for me.

I just noticed it in the 2016 Ebird Taxonomy Updates received recently. I guess it takes a long time after the split before it shows up on checklists.
 
Golden Whistler is much more appropriate but i guess these so called experts have to fill in their time somehow.

Yes, there is very little difference in these two birds but I guess DNA is more important than appearance.
