Variations

Males come in two colour morphs - pale throated and black throated, with black throated the commoner.

Distribution

"Eastern Black-eared Wheatear" is found in south-east Europe to Iran and the Caspian Sea, migrating to northern Africa.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Previously joined with Western Black-eared Wheatear under the name of Black-eared Wheatear.
