- Basileuterus delattrii
Identification
12.7 cm. Olive-green, yellow underparts including chests and throats, chestnut cap, white superciliary, dark eye-line fading into a chestnut cheek, stout bill, round and stubby wings, and the tail is long, often raised at a high angle and flicked.
Similar species
Rufous-capped Warbler differ in having white on at least part of the underparts and in the color of the rufous of the head.
Distribution
Southern Mexico through Costa Rica, Panama, northern Colombia and western Venezuela.
Taxonomy
Formerly considered a part of Rufous-capped Warbler
Subspecies
Three subspecies are recognized[1].
- B. r. delattrii:
- Southern Mexico (southeast Chiapas) to highlands of northern Costa Rica
- B. r. mesochrysus:
- B. r. actuosus:
- Coiba Island (off Pacific coast of Panama)
