Overview

Largest of the Shire Counties of England, until Local Government boundary changes carved it up, Yorkshire can offer many different types of habitat within the county boundary. Ranging from upland moors to estuarine mudflats, extensive reedbeds to ancient woodland, there should be something for any birdwatcher. With a good motorway network it is easy to go from the Pennines hills in the west to the sea in less than a couple of hours.
