Identification

Distribution

Endemic to the Cape Verde Islands in the Atlantic.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
It was formerly considered conspecific with Common Buzzard.

Diet

The diet includes rabbits, rodents, ground birds, reptiles and carrion.
