Distribution
Andes of southern Bolivia (Cochabamba, western Santa Cruz and Chuquisaca).
Taxonomy
Clements1 and IOC2 place this species in the genus Tarphonomus.
This is a monotypic species.
Habitat
Arid montane shrubland, scrub and deciduous woodland, between 1430–3000 m.
Behaviour
Diet
They hunt for food on the ground and in rock crevices. Their diet consists of arthropods, such as small molluscs
Breeding
It builds a nest of twigs and both parents incubate the eggs and care for the young.
