- Oxypogon cyanolaemus
Identification
Males show purple-blue beard narrowly bordered in white, white and black in the crest, dull green sheen on sides of crown, white-and-brown mottled underside, and mainly white tail with dark central rectrices and dark outer edges.
Distribution
South America: Santa Marta Mountains (northeast Colombia)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Formerly included in Bearded Helmetcrest.
Habitat
High-altitude grassland.
Behaviour
Has been observed feeding at flowers by either hovering or sitting on the plant.
