Overview

The Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge consists of two separate pieces of land and is located about 25 miles west of the city of Boston. History and Use

The Assabet River NWR was formerly known as the U.S. Army's Fort Devens Sudbury Training Annex. In the fall of 2000, the U.S. Army transferred the 2,230 acres to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
