Overview
The Arta Mountains lie on the east coast of Mallorca and host a good selection of woodland and mountain species. One of the most popular areas with birders is the church of Ermita de Betlem reached by a winding, narrow and steep road through stunning scenery. Shearwaters are frequent off the Arta Peninsula.
Birds
Notable Species
Booted Eagle is regularly seen in the Arta Mts and other upland birds include Alpine Swift, Blue Rock Thrush, Eurasian Crag Martin and Northern Raven. Alpine Accentor can be seen in this area from October to April.
Nearer the sea at Cabo Ferrutx there is more open ground with Red-legged Partridge, Tawny Pipit, and Thekla Lark. Cirl Bunting and Balearic Warbler can usually be found in the area.

The gardens of Ermita de Betlem regularly hold Common Firecrestand the Balearic race of Common Crossbill.
Access and Facilities
There is a road from the town of Arta which eventually forks left to the Ermita de Betlem or right towards a communications tower near Cabo Ferrutx. The Arta Mts are within easy reach of Puerto Pollensa where most birding visitors to Mallorca prefer to make their base.
