Taxonomy
Three subspecies recognized:
- C. p. pallidipes in the Himalayan foothills east to northern Burma
- C. p. laurentei in southern China, winters to northwest Thailand, northern Laos and northern Vietnam
- C. p. osmastoni on the Andaman Islands
Placed in genus Urosphena by Gill and Donsker.
