Taxonomy
Considered as monotypic by Clements[1]. Gill and Donsker[2] recognize four subspecies:
- M. t. phaea on Batan and Calayan (Philippines) and Taiwan
- M. t. septentrionalis on Batan, Itbayat and Sabtan Islands (northern Philippines); Lanyu Island
- M. t. tenuirostris in the Philippines
- M. t. borneensis in northern Borneo (included in Ruddy Cuckoo-Dove by Clements)
