Overview
This park adjoins the Swedish border and Sweden's Padjelanta National Park which in turn is linked to Sarek and Stora Sjofallet National Parks forming the largest protected wilderness area in Europe.
Rago is an area of high ridges and deep valleys, rather inacessible and rarely visited. Birch and pine, with some rowan and alder form the forest of the lower areas and there are extensive marshes and many lakes.
Birds
Notable Species
The area is not known for its birdlife but there are breeding Red-throated Diver, Common Goldeneye, Merlin and Common Gull, also Willow Warbler and Garden Warbler, Song Thrush, Fieldfare and Redwing. Ragoelva is the best birding area.
