Identification

13 cm (5 in)

  • Black head
  • Yellow crown patch
  • Buff supraloral stripe and eye crescent
  • Olive-green upperparts
  • Blackish-grey tail

Distribution

South America: found only in the Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Montane humid forest, cloud forest and forest edges between 1200–3050 m.

Behaviour

Diet

They both glean and flycatch, for insects and probably other arthropods.

Breeding

The nest is a rather bulky cup hidden on or near the ground.
