Distribution

Southeast Asia: found in Indochina, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Malay Peninsula, Brunei, Borneo, Indonesia, Greater Sundas and Sumatra

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 4 subspecies^[1]:

• P m. septentrionalis:

• Southern Burma and southern peninsula Thailand

• P m. oblitus:

• Malay Peninsula

• P m. maculatus:

• Sumatra, Belitung Island, Nias Island and Borneo

• P m. natunensis:

  North Natuna Islands

Habitat

Broadleaved lowland and swamp forest. Somtimes in montane forests.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of a variety of fruits and figs. They are partial to the fruit, pollen and nectar of mistletoe.
