Identification
Very similar to Kentish Plover but differs in having more extensive white in face with absent to very weak loral markings. Additionally, the bill is slightly larger.
Distribution
Breeds in southeastern China and Vietnam; winters to southeast Asia, Malay Peninsula and Sumatra
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly considered a subspecies of Kentish Plover or a plumage variation within that same species.
Habitat
Breeding habits very poorly known. In non-breeding areas found in most coastal wet areas.
Behaviour
Migrant, almost exclusively known from non-breeding areas.
Vocalisation
Calls given in winter very similar to those of Kentish Plover.
