- Cyornis pallidipes
Identification
15cm. Male - bright blue upperparts, head and breast, and the rest of the underparts are white. Female - brown upperparts, grey head and red breast, white underparts. Juvenile birds have brown upperparts, scaly on the head and breast, with just the belly being whitish.
Distribution
Western Ghats of southwest India.
Taxonomy
The scientific name is also spelled pallipes.
Habitat
Forest undergrowth and ravines.
Behaviour
It nests on a rock ledge and lays 4 eggs.
The diet includes insects.
