Identification

  • Rufous plumage
  • Slight crest
  • Red or orange-red legs and feet

Distribution

South-east Asia: found in the lowlands of Banggai and Sula islands (off Sulawesi), Indonesia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Subspecies perrufus is generally considered invalid[1].

Habitat

Dry and moist lowland forests, mangroves and moist shrubland.
