Identification
8·9–10·2 cm (3½-4 in)
- Grey head with some black and white streaking on crown
- White supraloral spot
- Olive upperparts
- Brownish-black wings with yellow edging
- White throat
- Yellow underparts
- Black streaks on throat, breast and flanks
- Orange-yellow eyes
- Long flat bill
Distribution
South America: found in Trinidad, Venezuela, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.

Five subspecies are recognized[1]:

- French Guiana to Suriname and north-eastern Amazonian Brazil
- T. m. diversum:
- Central Amazonian Brazil
- T. m. annectens:
- North-central Brazil (Rio Branco to Rio Negro)
Habitat
Nearly always found in wet areas in second growth and shrubby thickets.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of spiders, flies, termites and butterflies. They usually feed in pairs.
Breeding
Both adults construct their untidy elongated nest.
