Distribution
Taxonomy
Hypocnemis striata has three subspecies:[1]
- H. s. striata
- H. s. implicata
- South-central Amazonian Brazil (lower River Madeira to River Tapajós)
- H. s. affinis
- Brazil south of River Amazon (River Xingú to River Tocantins, eastern Mato Grosso)
Habitat
Rainforest borders and secondary woodland often near water or marshes.
Behaviour
Diet
It gleans for insects in foliage and often picks its prey from the underside of leaves.
Breeding
They are monogamous. Both adults share the incubation of the 2 eggs and subsequent care of the young.
