Identification

Male and female are similar.

Similar Species

It resembles the overall greener Green-headed Tanager (a species somewhat confusingly known as the seven-coloured tanager (saíra-sete-cores) in Portuguese).

Similar species

Paradise Tanager and Green-headed Tanager are both somewhat similar but do not overlap in range.

Distribution

South America: found in coastal north-eastern Brazil (southern Paraíba, eastern Pernambuco and Alagoas).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Mid-elevation Atlantic Forest. Relatively tolerant of habitat fragmentation but threatened by capture for the pet trade.
