Identification

- Streaked head, nape, upper back, throat and upper breast
- Whitish eyering
Similar Species
Similar to East Andean Antbird.
Distribution
South America: found in northern Colombia (Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species1.
It was formerly included in Long-tailed Antbird.
Habitat
Undergrowth in a variety of forest and second growth but almost always in areas with bamboo. Usually in areas at 1500-2600 m asl. sometimes lower.
Behaviour
Usually in pairs, and usually will not join mixed species flocks. Forages hidden in dense undergrowth where it can be detected by vocalizations.
Diet
It is thought their diet and foraging behaviour is similar to that of Streak-headed Antbird, so would therefore consist of a variety of insects, which would probably also include spiders.
