Identification
38-43 cm. Grey head and underparts, streaking on the crown, neck and breast. rufous grey upperparts, uppertail is bright rufous, rufous-chestnut flight feathers, white underwing coverts, and greyish flight feathers and undertail. The juvenile is duller and browner, with a brown-grey head and white supercilium.
Distribution
China, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Open woodland and scrub often occurs near rivers, paddyfields or swamps.
Behaviour
The diet includes lizards, small mammals and large insects.
