Taxonomy
This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 2 subspecies.

- Andes of central Bolivia
Habitat
Montane grassland, especially with cacti and montane slopes near timber line. Low woodlands. Also observed in overgrazed valley floor at around 4,450 m.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of insects. The hunt from a perch and drop to the ground to catch their prey.
Breeding
They perform a hovering-gliding display flight, about 10-12 m above the ground.
